The Importance Of Getting A Professional Teeth Cleaning

By Rey Vetangelo

For years I passed up getting my teeth cleaned because my insurance provider didn't cover it. However, as the years have passed and my oral care routine hasn't changed, I find myself worrying more over cavities. There are several reasons that your doctor works with you to get your teeth cleaned at least yearly.

There are several things worse than cavities that we don't think of when we are at the dentist. We generally go in for check ups dreading the fillings or new appliances that are going to be suggested to us. But medical professionals would highlight several other key reasons to be taking better care of your mouth.

The ultimate goal of any orthodontist is a healthy bite. Think about all the elements involved in chewing. You've got 32 teeth positioned inside your gums and your jaw with several muscles working almost effortlessly. If everything isn't working as intended, your bite could be awkward or uncomfortable-you might even be doing damage to your teeth with every chomp.

Each mouth is a little different as any Draper dentist can attest to. You are working against the different chemical make up unique to you. This will determine what type of toothbrush you need, what toothpaste you should use, and what bacteria is growing in your mouth. Understanding the bacteria will help you fight against it, for example, by avoiding certain foods.

* A bright smile is your best accessory. Every day wear and tear on your mouth causes staining. A lot of us use toothpaste with whitening properties to ensure we always have a bright smile. Going in for your regular cleaning will help to remove the build up and grime on your teeth revealing a beautiful smile. Remember to always brush and floss between cleanings to keep your smile nice and white.

Orthodontists are highly trained, and that's a good thing because getting your bite right can require specialized treatment. Whether it's preventative procedures that help your child develop a healthy smile through adolescence, or repairing crooked teeth, you can rest assured that your orthodontist has all the knowledge and training necessary.

But it all comes back down to an unclean mouth. Get your teeth cleaned regularly to check for bacteria, which also cause bad breath. Your regular check up can help you keep up with good oral hygiene.

Lastly, we suggest checking with your company's insurance provided. If you are covered on any type of dental plan, chances are it covers at least one yearly cleaning. So make the most of the insurance money you are paying out - go to the dentist and have a preventative care, cleaning, and exam.

When it comes down to it, all we want is for you to have a great smile. Orthodontics is based on the principle that a great smile comes from good oral health. Our smiles look the best when our teeth and jaws are functioning the way they should. Call us today, and find out how our orthodontics team can get you on the path toward a healthier smile!
