A cosmetic surgeons education never stops, he/she is always being presented new ways to improve their practice and become the best they can be. Finding a surgeon that has the same values will be the one that wants to help you, and the one that wants to listen to your concerns and do everything he/she can to make you better, the way you should be.

The staff at the medical office will need to have your insurance information so they can bill your insurer properly and without any delays. If you have insurance, make sure to leave a copy of your card with the cosmetic surgeon or the office staff so they have all the information they need accurately.

You do pay to visit your cosmetic surgeon so in theory they are considered your employees. You should feel free to share any concerns you might have in the way they are treating you. Keep in mind that if there are no improvements and if the service is not good you should go elsewhere.

Before you decide to select an out-of-network cosmetic surgeon, carefully read the fine print of your health insurance policy. Some policies may cover the procedure, but often times will only cover a fraction of the total cost, while other policies no longer cover any of the costs. Check this information before you make a final decision.

Sometimes cosmetic surgeons make mistakes. The problems come when the surgeon will not admit his mistake, or worse, doesn't learn from it. We see mistakes in diagnosis and treatments all the time. If they admit that they made a mistake, we tend to feel better and find it easier to forgive. But if they do not admit their mistakes, you should probably find a different surgeon to take over your case.

It is important to have a relationship with your cosmetic surgeon, even after the treatment of your ailment is already done. Be sure that after the initial appointment that there is an after appointment where you and your surgeon review the results of treatment, and continue on any more recent issues that arise.

When you are trying to find a good cosmetic surgeon for you, you have to try to find out if the potential surgeon is open other than the standard hours of 9:00-5:00 during the week. If you have work and you work late hours, you will need your surgeon to be opened late so you can stop by after work.
