Moisturise And Nourish Skin With Hemp Lotion

By Haywood Hunter

Although it is one of the best products for your skin there has only lately been an interest in hemp lotion. There is a long history of medical use of this remarkable plant and it has many health giving properties. It will not only moisturize and repair skin but restore and protect it too.

As folk medicine a paste or liniment made from hemp seeds was applied to the skin to treat cancerous ulcers or tumors. Oil extracted from the seeds also has the highest concentration of essential fatty acids of any plant source. These are extremely beneficial for the skin and for human health in general.

The purpose of EFAs is to act as a moisture barrier for the skin. If you cells do not get enough of these essential fats then your skin will dry out much more quickly. It not only contains high concentrations of omega 3, 6 and 9 but they are in proportions that represent the best balance for human health.

PUFAs (polyunsaturated fatty acids) are also important and help to restore damaged skin and prevent inflammatory reactions. Another important fat is linoleic acid. It is also one of the rare sources of GLA (gamma linolenic acid) which is only found in evening primrose oil and borage oil.

To enhance this effect there are also the important antioxidants carotene and vitamin E. Plant sterols also have remarkable properties and phospholipids are also present. There are also a number of minerals available such as sulfur, phosphorus, potassium, calcium and magnesium.

Many different brands and types of hemp lotion are available. They would all have to be judged on their own unique formulations but with a significant amount of the base oil they should all provide some of the benefits mentioned above. You also needn't worry about any of the effects of cannabis because these formulations are made from industrial forms of the plant that contain just about no THC.
