Allergic rhinitis, also called hay fever, is one of the most common allergies, which causes a multitude of cold like symptoms like itchy eyes and nose, runny nose, congestion, sneezing, sinus pressure, among others. Food allergies affect a large percentage of children and adults, and result from an auto immune reaction that happens when a person eats even a small amount of an allergy-causing food. This immune system response could result in digestive problems, hives, constricted breathing, and even anaphylactic shock.

Insect bite allergies are caused by an overly strong immune reaction to insect venom. These reactions can include coughing fits, asthma attacks, itching, swelling in the area of skin around the bite, chest tightening, and in very extreme cases, anaphylactic shock.

Drug allergies result from the immune system's abnormal reaction to a medication a person takes. This reaction can be caused from an assortment of over-the-counter or prescription drugs, and may include fever, hives, or rashes. This can, unfortunately, happen at any moment - even in case where an individual takes a medication that they had never had a reaction to previously. This is not to be confused with an adverse drug reaction, which does not involve the immune system, but sometimes has similar symptoms.

Allergies cannot be cured, but they can be controlled and relieved by a number of sinusitis treatment pa and allergy treatment pa services that are available. These include limiting exposure to allergens, taking allergy drops or shots, and a number of natural and surgical procedures.
